The Great Lakes Burning River Festival was another huge success attracting over 10,000 people to the two day event.
The Burning River Fest celebrates environmental awareness and eco-friendly living. It is named after the infamous 1969 incident in which the Cuyahoga River caught on fire.
Local bands provided entertainment, several local vendors provided food and exhibits from area environmental groups and educational organizations were available for attendees to visit. This year the Great Lakes Brewing Company decided to brew 30 to 40 kegs of their most popular beer- Christmas Ale. The ale is normally only available for eight weeks in the winter.
All proceeds from the festival go to the Burning River Foundation, a nonprofit formed by Great Lakes Brewing to provide resources to sustain and protect regional waterways.

SE Blue printed all the large color format banners that lined the walkway to the festival.

The banners had environmental messages printed on them for attendees to read and consider while heading towards the main stage and Coast Guard station.

Local bands provided entertainment at various locations throughout the event.

Popular local artist Alex Bevan performs for the crowd.

We’re just beginning to recover from Cleveland Architecture Week held April 15 thru April 24. A wide range of outstanding events were held- from lectures and round table discussions to hardhat tours and a fantastic Pechakucha night!
Sponsored by AIA, the week centered around the their exhibit- “Connecting Cleveland through a celebration of architecture” at Convivium 33 gallery in Cleveland. The exhibit focused on “regional architects and activities of the built environment and their role in the future of the region.”
A definite highlight of the week was Pechakucha night. After the AIA Happy Hour at Verve (a Cleveland restaurant and bar hot spot) the crowd migrated to the gallery to enjoy the Pechakucha presentation at Convivium 33.
Pechakucha originated in Japan and is a photo presentation event that features a succession of designers showcasing their work, ideas and obsessions in a series that lasts 6 minutes and 40 seconds. A total of 20 photos are shown, each getting displayed for 20 seconds. The concept gives each of the designers only 20 seconds to talk about their photo(s), keeping the presentations short and relevant and most importantly the screening moving along. (Everyone knows how much architects and designers can talk!)
One really unique architectural design highlight featured an old carriage house that was converted into three separate businesses; a catering company, sound studio and a private swingers lounge! Yes, a SWINGERS lounge!
A few photos from the AIA Happy Hour at Verve. Become a fan of our Facebook page to see all of the photos from that night.

The Akron-Canton CSI’s (Construction Specifications Institute) annual show was held on April 8 at the John S. Knight Convention Center in downtown Akron. It is the largest annual builders/construction product and education show in Northeast Ohio.
The show provides area construction professionals (architects, engineers, specifiers, interior designers, contractors, etc.) exposure to the many different building materials and products on the market. Over 50 Companies were represented showcasing new and exciting products and services.
At the show, SE Blueprint demonstrated the capabilities of our Planroom design software and announced our new partnership with FASTTAC. FASTTAC is a software that delivers rapid access to construction documentation in the field and in the office for general contractors, architects, engineering firms and owners/developers. SE Blueprint’s role in the partnership will be to assist and collaborate with FASTTAC in the development of the next generation drawing distribution system.
We look forward to working with FASTTAC and are certain that an even better, more capable and accessible next generation system can be built from our collaborative partnership.
